“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.” Luke 10.13
There is something in this verse that alludes to our responsibility to the goodness of God. We all ask God for many things, and if we were to write down every request and look back over them every so often we would probably be amazed at how many of them had been answered. The question Jesus seems to be putting to us in this verse is along the lines of: so - what are you going to do about this?
The touches of God upon our lives can be transitory or they can be life changing. Perhaps it is us who determines which by deciding how seriously we take his love and goodness towards us.
The first step is to look back over the past few days and consider, ‘How has God touched me?’ Then ask yourself what you have done about it. How seriously have you taken his touch?
