‘…if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.’ 1 John 4.12
The message of the Saviour, who has come to each of us personally, is not meant to get stored up within us like water in a reservoir. Instead we should be more like an irrigation channel, with his message flowing into us and through us. This does not mean that we are called to pass on what is unnatural or foreign to us, but to simply exude the blessings and good news that we have received from God.
As we prepare for Christmas, and the opportunities for fellowship with others that the season brings, a wonderful but challenging place to start is to look at 1 Corinthians 13. This chapter about love is a description of how we are to interact with others, as well as a revelation of the nature of God’s love.
It is his love that the world needs – we need it, the people we will meet over Christmas need it and it is has been given to us by God, in Jesus. This Christmas and beyond, let’s be as Jesus would be with the people we meet.
