“I AM” Exodus 3.14
When God revealed himself to Moses, he explained that he wanted to be known as “I am”. As far as names go it is hardly the catchiest name he could have chosen – but it is probably the most powerful!
For a moment, call to mind any situation coming up that may be causing you some concern. There may be any number of reasons why you are anxious about it; fear of a person, plans that haven’t worked out well or a general sense that circumstances beyond your control are piling up against you.
However, instead of focussing on your concerns, try to picture Jesus in the situation. He is the exact representation of God’s being, and as he stands in the midst of the situation facing you, hear him speak his name – “I am”.
Ephesians 1.21 speaks of Jesus being seated far above all other powers. However, he is not above them because he is detached from them; far from it, he is over them because he is greater than them. Whatever situation may be causing you anxiety, Jesus is present and speaking the words, “I am”. He is there, all powerful, concerned for you and on your side.
