“But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” Mark 1.44
In this story, Jesus healed the man of leprosy but it was only the priest who could formally re-introduce him back into society. He may have been healed, but Jesus was determined that he should have fullness of life and until the priest had made his declaration the man would remain an outcast.
This highlights Jesus’ total commitment to us. There may be areas of your life where you have sensed the touch of God and things have improved, but actually his commitment to you is 100%. Paul wrote in Philippians 1.6, ‘…he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’ In other words, improvement is not Jesus’ goal; it might be an encouragement along the way but his commitment far exceeds an improvement in one area of your life.
Most of the time we are thrilled to receive any touch from God, but to hold on to the vision that God is utterly committed to us personally is an amazing thought. Take a moment to sit before him, dwell on the truth of this and begin to worship him.
